July Darbuka Challenge

Day 31 Audio

Day 31! Amazing!!!
Time to reflect on what was the 'July Darbuka Challenge.' How has it changed the way you set out to practice now? Have you seen some improvements in your own playing? I really hope so! Some of us have set some pretty high goals for ourselves and this month could almost be seen as planting seeds. I know that some of the techniques i am practicing will still take another couple of months to work their way into my fingers.
It has been a remarkable month to say the least. I am already thinking of the next challenge and have some great ideas flowing in.

I will be 'hanging out' in the forum for most of the day today and really look forward to hearing about your experiences and reflecting on the challenge with you all (After i take a nice long walk along the river!) Thank you for trusting in my teaching and joining me on this mad drumming adventure. All i can say is that the future is looking very bright indeed!

Team Turkey/Arabia
Grab your drum, choose a groove and think how lucky you are for being able to play this wonderful instrument!

85 BPM’s.

Part A of the solo uses Fallahi and Saiidi. It can be played using Arabic or Turkish style techniques.
Part B is Wahda and a Gypsy style 9/8.

Notes:

1. There are two bars of Fallahi on each line of this chart (Fallahi is a 2 beat cycle).
2
. I have made some sections ‘bald’ so you know that they are a whole section to be repeated.
3.
In bar 5 the ‘Mute’ and ‘Ka’ played together are optional only.
4.
I am playing a mixture of Arabic and Turkish styles. Please see the ‘how to play’ video for more on this.
